In November 2016 my family had the chance to experience a stay-cation at the 5 star St. George Lycabettus Boutique hotel. St. George is a classy family-run hotel and a landmark in my hometown Athens well known for its hospitality. It is located in the Kolonaki area nestled against the green slopes of the Lycabettus Hill. The hotel offers a breath-taking panoramic view over Athens, the Acropolis and the Saronic Gulf and is located near some of Athens’ best shops, galleries and museums.
St. George Lycabettus Boutique hotel is famous for its award-winning restaurants ‘Le Grand Balcon’ and ‘La Suite Lounge’. Here, a Family Brunch is served each Sunday from 12:00 – 16:00. While adults enjoy their meal, a professional team of entertainers and babysitters will take care of the kids in a play area entirely dedicated to them.
The best feature of the elegant La Suite Lounge is the breath taking view over the city and the sea. The light, modern surroundings and materials made us feel instantly relaxed.
The Family Brunch was set up in different sections. Among the cold buffet was a variety of salads, cold cuts, cheeses, sandwiches, bread and a healthy section with juices, yogurts, fruits and superfoods such as goji berries. The hot buffet served eggs, pasta, mini hamburgers, wraps and quiche lorraine. The mouth-watering sweet buffet section had a large variety of Greek traditional and international sweets and a chocolate fountain. Regular filter coffee is included in the price of the Sunday Family Brunch. Cappuccino, Espresso or other drinks are charged extra. My children liked the brownies and the traditional Greek sweet called bougatsa the most.
The play area was in a stylish and comfortable section near the lunch area. It was closed of from the restaurant and the door. The children would not be able to leave without being seen by us. We felt very safe there. The carpeted play area had tables for arts and crafts and plenty of space for the children to do all sorts of games and to jump around. There were also sofa’s for the parents and there was a small outside area for smoking. The kind babysitters organized several games with our kids and we took crafted art and balloons home.
Thanks to the playroom us adults had the time to really enjoy our food and to relax. The staff in La Suite Lounge was very helpful and attentive to us and our children. We felt very welcome.
I believe that the Sunday Family Brunch is the perfect way to spent quality family time for both families that live in Athens and guests of the hotel. Being a resident of Athens myself, I can recommend the Sunday Family Brunch.
